I am helping a friend set the gov up on his 600n. We're using the align sensor and everything is set up per the manual. In normal mode we are running 1600 rpm and everything is working fine however when we switch to iu1at 1800 the engine runs up way past it to well over 2000 rpm. We can't figure out why. It happens on the bench and during flight. Changing the gov response and holding performance does nothing to help.
Any ideas what's going on? Gear ratio and sensing divider are correct. 1600 rpm in normal reads correct in software on bench and also with rpm gauge in the air.

I think you'll find that in the gov tab, the max servo adjustment is too low and that is causing the servo to reach max position from what the gov sees prior to reaching the desired 1800 rpm. Correct action is to raise that adjustment. How far isn't clear to me and so I can't tell you. I adjusted mine through trial and error.

It's a common issue for nitro/gas gov users.

If I have this wrong, i'm sure Zex will correct me.

smgunn: I think that there is some problem with reading higher RPM. Can you verify if you can see 1800 RPM in the Current RPM display?

You may try to tune RPM Sensor Filter parameter in the Expert settings. Try to decrease the value to 1. Is the readings precise? Can you see jittering of the RPM?

Scott H: There is really no issue in the settings. I have tried to explain it many times in the forum. Throttle Range can be configured in 60s very precisely.
You will only need to extend high position of the throttle channel to for example 120% in your transmitter to be sure you can reach absolute max. Then by increasing/decreasing Throttle Range - Max. parameter in the software you can set it so it match the full position of your motor.
This can be done with disabled Governor.

I will try this new parameter when I get back from holiday in 2 weeks time.
Couldn't pack the helicopter in the suitcase - unfortunately ;)

Hope it helps - You have the same problem a couple of us have had for weeks.

So maybe what is simple and logical for you to understand, is not so straightforward for lots of us ?

Setup video to help to us to visualize the process ? Please !

Ps. I won't repeat the request for the commonly used : 1) set servo travel, 2) set gearing 3) enter 3 headspeeds .... done ;)

For the record, I could only find this parameter in the PC software, not the app. Am i looking in the wrong places ?

You have to update the app for the latest 1.3.2.
In case of Spirit it is: 1) set servo travel, 2) set gearing 3) enter max. headspeed
So it is very same as with V-Bar or other FBL controllers.

I am sure that there will be some detailed guide or video about Governor. The problem is, that there will be unanswered questions always as there are many sensors, many motors, many ESCs and many transmitters and each piece is different.
