I have Kraken 580 with a Spirit 2 using an SRXL2 SPM4651T.
I'm running a Hobbywing 120a esc with telemetry set up in sat port1.
Can I run a DSMX satellite on port 2 or even port 1 and 2 (by removing the telemetry connection)?

Hello,
no it is not possible - I always wonder why users don't use the search function in the forum first, the topic has already been covered several times...

Hi.

I did do a search it on more than one occasion, but I thought the threads I foiund were conflicting or not the same set up as I have.

Apologies if I couldn't find the correct thread :(

I also asked on the SAB Facebook SAB page and was told it was possible by several people!

So, I put a thread on here hoping Thomas? would answer.

Hello,
I don't know if you looked at this - there is no word of DSMX-Sats -
https://manual.spirit-system.com/index.php?title=Spektrum_SRXL2

The only FBL that works with SRXL2 and an DSMX-Sat as I know is not Spirit -

Hi

I had read that.

I questioned it as I get replies like shown below.

My main concern is that one SRXL2 isn't enough.
Perhaps I should just buy another!

Ian.

Hello,
Was this statement from Jeff West? Normally I believe his statements, but I think he is wrong - neither in the current instructions nor from Tomas is there any statement that a DSMX satellite can be installed parallel to the SLRX2. can be operated, the request was here some time ago and as I remember, Tomas said that it wouldn't work -

If a DSMX-Sat lights up, that doesn't mean that it works, it just means , it is supplied with voltage and it has been linked to the remote control, so be careful here!

If you want a reliable configuration without loss of telemetry, the only way is to have an AR6610T and an additional SRXL2 satellite that plugs directly into the AR6610T, for example the SPM9747.

Info from HH :
Additional RF path redundancy with an additional SRXL2 Remote Receiver (SPM9747, sold separately)

It was Jeff West, but I think he may have been referring to an Icon Fbl, as this is what he tends to use on his builds.

Am I correct in thinking I can use a second SRXL2 in the second satellite port as per the spirit manual or will I loose telemetry?

Hello,
yes ICON can use SRXL2 and DSMX-Sat that's true !

Yes in this configuration you will loose partly telemetry if the satellite is in sat1 or sat2 port - There is no solution for that either - In my opinion it works not smoothly, I tested this also a longer time ago - The only clean way ist to go with the AR6610T with an additional remote receiver, that works flawless -

I too have been searching for an answer to this problem with no avail. You seem to be the first to have a definitive answer I have been searching for.

I can confirm that by using a SRXL2 Sat plugged into either that Sat1 or Sat2 port you will lose Telemetry, temporarily when the system switches to the Sat. Using a DSMX Sat with have a SRXL2 as your primary will not work at all.

The problem I see with using the SPM9747 is it has an integrated antenna. So the unit needs to be mounted away from CF. Hard to do on our helis with CF frames. Personally don't like the look of things mounted on the boom, which in some cases are CF as well.

I will be trying the SPM4651T plugged directly into my AR6610T to see if that solves the problem with reliable Telemetry

Unfortunately old DSMX satellites will not work with Spirit units together with SRXL2 that are communicating at a different protocol.

For running multiple SRXL2 receivers/satellites we developed binding process that can be triggered directly from the Spirit Settings software.
This will bind all receivers properly with only one to send telemetry data. So issues with corrupted telemetry will be resolved by this.

I think we can share the software from tomorrow if someone is interested.
