Post subject:  [SOLVED] SRXL wiring mistake in the manual

I noticed in the online manual SRXL wiring the author are using a SPM4649T receiver: http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... e=SPM4649T
The SPM4649T is an SRXL receiver (not SRXL2); however, the wiring example supplied are connecting SRXL2.

Using the SMP4649T as an example is a mistake in the online manual.

Correct SRXL wiring: http://manual.spirit-system.com/index.p ... D_RECEIVER

SRXL2:
Spektrum AR6610T (and others in this range)
Spektrum SPM4650T (Limited distance telemetry)
Spektrum SPM4651T (Full distance telemetry)
Spektrum SPM6747 (No telemetry)
SRXL:
Spektrum AR9020 (SRXL #1 "language")
Spektrum AR7700 (SRXL #2 "language," same as AR8010T, AR9030T and so on..
Spektrum SPM4650T

You are not right.
SPM4649T is actually not SRXL receiver, although some are calling it that way.
It is using old protocol known from DSM2/X satellites.

Where you found in the manual it is SRXL2?

As far as we know everything is correct in the manual. This receiver is older than SRXL2, but newer than SRXL1 receivers.

As Tomaz said, the 4649T outputs RRP (remote receiver protocol) as spoken by the legacy remote receivers (also called sats).
And it was the first Spektrum receiver that also takes serial input to send data back via telemetry according to the Bi-Directional SRXL protocol:
https://github.com/SpektrumRC/SpektrumD ... 20SRXL.pdf

To my knowledge, only the 4649T speaks that.
Other old SRXL stuff like the AR8010T only output SRXL but do not take SRXL input.

And the new SRXL2 series communicates via that new protocol in both directions ...

Yes, that is right. But still SPM4649T has nothing common with SRXL receivers. So it shouldn't be called SRXL receiver. But it was hard to distinguish and from marketing point of view to better promote.

And that's exactly my take on it. Sorry if I couldn't state that clearly enough. I wanted to say something like

It's neither RRP nor SRLX nor SRLX2. It's its own family. Rather call it 4649T than anything else.
Even if you are exact and name it "bi-directional SRXL", the next guy will drop the "bi-directional" and call it SRXL again :)

If the SPM4649T outputs RRP why doesn't it work in place of a remote receiver(ignore the minimum voltage limit)?

Actually it works. There is no difference in channel transmission data, except AIL pin has bidirectional output for telemetry and also it has different connectors.

So that we are on the same page...

- I noticed Thomas asked where I found it was SRXL2. I stated SRXL, not SRXL2
- Does this mean that the 4649T are being connected to a Spirit FBL like an SRXL2? So the manual are correct?
- Lastly, the 4649T will transmit telemetry - battery voltage, RPM and everything else as needed?

Hope to hear from you guys :)

Yes, manual is correct. Wiring is basically same as for SRXL2, but not identical. Different cables are needed as described in the guide.

If your ESC has telemetry support, then yes. All telemetry data are then transmitted to your radio.
