Post subject:  [SOLVED] Telemetry problem with Tribunus and FrSky

I posted on FB already, but it went down quickly.

I'm having a weird telemetry issue. Setting up new Spirit 2, latest opentx on Horus x10s with ISRM update, Archer GR8 receiver, Scorpion Tribunus II 14-200 ESC.

Telemetry and integration works, but every few seconds it becomes interrupted for few seconds. See video, where RX telemetry counters (first half) have no issue with update. But counters coming from FBL get frozen sometimes for some seconds. And it's quite regular.

Same problem is if I run Spirit scripts. It loads some data to the page, then hangs for few seconds, and then gets the rest.

What could it be?

Hello,

your receiver firmware must be updated, otherwise crash can occur.
FrSky released new firmware to fix the issue.

I updated. I had firmware 2.1.0, and updated to recent 2.1.7.

And now it's even worse :( Please see videos.

Any idea? And most important, is it safe to fly?

Ok, I found in the other thread, that this is resolved for Archer RS in firmware 2.1.8. But not for other receivers yet. Damn... gotta wait then.

Hello,

we recommend to not fly because apparently signal is lost randomly. New firmware resolved the issue it seems.

But there isn't any newer firmware for Archer GR8, same with R4, R6, R8... This problem was only resolved in Archer RS which is using a different firmware. Nor sure what to do now...

Thomas, could you maybe point me to some source information about this problem? I'm completely confused now and need to figure out what to do, as there isn't any newer firmware for this receiver than the one I use.

There's an issue for that on gitbub:

https://github.com/FrSkyRC/Firmware-Test/issues/121

There's also a beta firmware there which does improve telemetry, but I'm not sure if it's safe to fly with this yet.

Unfortunately I dont know which version is safe, but with ACCTS 1 and 2 it was working always perfectly for us.
There are too many changes in their development that we are unable to track. But from reports of other pilots the latest version should work.

Thomas, please check the reply from FrSky: https://github.com/FrSkyRC/Firmware-Tes ... -851137312
Basically they are saying, that sth needs to be modified in Spirit or firmware for things to work.
