Hello everybody,

I have been trying to set up a standard Spirit FBL with a Core transmitter (following the set up wizard) and ran into the following issue:

- in the set up diagnostic program the elevator as well as the pitch moves correctly, however the swashplate reacts wrong: activating the elevator stick makes the swash plate go up and down as if it were a pitch command, whilst activating the pitch stick the swash tilts for and aft as if it were a elevator command.
- tried swapping these two functions in the Spirit set up program as well as in the transmitter but unfortunately with identical results.

-all other funcions (roll, tail and gyro) are ok

Further info:

- Logo 550SX
- Core transmitter in S Bus mode
- Firmware version 3.2.2

How can I resolve this??

Many thanks in advance

P.s. the FBL unit worked flawlessly with my 18MZ Futaba transmitter. I sold the heli plus all electronics to a friend who is using a Core transmitter so I am trying to get this sorted for him.

Hello,

if only transmitter changed and nothing else, then please do not touch settings at all. It is only required to set your radio properly.

Probably your model has some swashplate mix enabled in the radio. Turn it off and it should be OK.
If there are some other differences when you switched radio, please let me know.

Is diagnostic tab showing correct stick movement now?

If yes, then the problem will be rather in servo wiring and servo reversing.
If you are moving with collective pitch up and down all servos must move together. If no, then reverse servos in the Setup Wizard or Servos tab so they are moving together. Then problem should be resolved.

There is absolutely no swash mix involved; this is a Core transmitter (from Powerbox Systems). Believe it or not, but this radio (+/- Eur2.450,- :o ) does not have heli set up/template available. One has to program everything from scratch.

I first updated the firmware (to 3.2.2) and when I tried with my radio all setting were lost and so we had to start from zero with the Core radio. All servo connections in the Spirit unit were maintained.

In the diagnostic tab the stick commands show correctly (pitch is moving in the right direction, same goes for elevator function), however the point is that the swashplate on the heli does not move correctly i.e. an elevator stick movement results in the swash moving up and down (as if it was a collective command) and a pitch stick movement results in a for and aft movement of the swashplate (as with an elevator stick input)

I no longer know what to try next.

Regards

In that case please try what I wrote in the previous post. This will resolve the problem. Just reverse 1 or 2 servos and all will be OK :)

Step 6 in the wizard will help you identify which servos need to be reversed.

We will give it a try this afternoon and keep you posted

Another potential cause could be that the stick assignment in the transmitter is not ok....

Many thanks

In this case, I think step 5 in the wizard can help you figure out the mappings.

The funny thing is that in the dianostic tab everything works as it should: the bar of the pitch moves up when we give pitch up with the collective stick and the elevator bar goes up when we apply nick forward and vice versa..... There is nothing wrong as far as I can see that. I checked with another heli of mine with a Spirit FBL.

This afternoon the guy will be back with his Core radio and we will first try out what Thomas suggested. However I have a distinct feeling there is something wrong with the settings of the radio.

Thanks

If stick movements are OK in Diagnostic tab then there is nothing more to set.
So radio settings is OK.

I had exactly this same problem and could not work it out despite setting up 3 other spirit units and asked for help...Tomas suggested straight away about the reversal box in the servo screen and i then realised that i did not check that section. Ticked the box for front 2 servo's and that solved the problem.....
