Post subject:  Spirit quit responding to transmitter inputs

Hi,
I was setting up my new unit on a mini protos and spektrum dx9 using the wizard. everything was working well and was saved. I exited setup and later powered the unit to teach the esc hi and low throttle range and noticed that the servos are no longer responding to the transmitter but they are reacting to the sensor when the heli is moved. I have tried rebinding the single dsmx sat and returned to the software to look at the diagnostics tab and that shows no movement from transmitter input even though the bind seems successful (red steady light on sat). When I first went thru the wizard the diagnostic tab and servos behaved normally in response to transmitter commands. The Spirit seems to initialize normally and is recogonized by the software. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards, Ed

Hi, is your receiver type in the unit still configured to Spektrum DSM2/X?
You can check it in the General tab.

Yes- I checked and it still shows dsm2/x receiver type.

Then you can check whether primary satellite is connected properly and there is no broken cable.
But if you are able to rebind satellites (they are flashing) then cables are most probably OK and there is only something wrong configured.
Did you changed something else in your transmitter (for example Frame rate)?

I did not make any transmitter changes. I have tried 3 different satellites now with the same results. They flash when entering bind mode and then turn solid red. The transmitter reports the bind successful. I have also tried rebinding at 22ms instead of the original 11 that I was using. I reset the unit to factory defaults and started over with the setup wizard but I can't get passed the page where you adjust centers since it won't respond to tx inputs. The frustrating part is it initially worked as I mentioned. I have even tried a different transmitter dx6i without success.

Do you remember when it stopped working exactly?
When something happened suddenly then there must be some reason.

Are your subtrim and trims in the center position (0)? If some value for channel aileron, elevator or rudder is off from the center, it will not process incoming data.

Yes I agree and have thought of that a lot. I had completed the initial setup and was ready for test flt to tune tail. Esc would not arm (all setup was done with motor disconnected ) so I thought it needed to relearn hi and lo throttle endpoints so I powered the unit with throttle high to make esc enter programming mode. This was the first time the spirit seemed to quit responding to tx inputs. I just checked sub trims on the dx9 an all are zero except pitch was still +10 fro
Initial setup on pg 3 of wizard.

I would add that I am running osx version of spirit software on iMac with the USB driver linked to on spirit website. The software seems to run normally and reports to be saving properly each time I have done so. It still shows connected and the unit led indicates initializing fine.

You can also check whether throttle channel is not too low (especially throttle hold value).

Alternatively you can try to connect the unit with conventional receiver if possible (remember to set PWM receiver type first).

Ok. Thx. I just checked throttle. Normal mode is set 0 to 100 linear ( for esc programming) flt modes 1and 2 are flat 75 and 80 respectively and t-hold is flat 0. I will try a regular rx later today and report results. Thanks again for your help and please let me know if you have any other ideas.
