I wanted to add there was a firmware update a number of years ago for the SPM4649T. Spektrum claims it was only for a voltage measurement issue but you can never be sure with them. All of my 4649T's have been updated.

Yeah I remember the 4649t having an issue with input voltage range and they weren't able to do the 8v input, lol.

All the ones I have though are the latest, so no worries there.

I will add, the 2 small helis I just converted to the 4650 setup work perfectly. Text gen access, esc telemetry, all works as it should.

For fun, I'll take the next one that's currently got the 4649t and basically reset the spirit and model In the tx and setup from scratch and see if anything changes.

The firmware update was for a voltage measurement issue at the telemetry input port. It was unrelated to the problem they had with them not being able to be powered off of 8.4 volts. I don't think they ever confirmed it but I believe that was caused by a fake voltage regulator that had been used by the manufacturering contractor.

What small heli are you using them on with an ESC that supports telemetry? I have my micro installed in a fusion 180. I haven't found any ESC small enough for a 180 that supports telemetry so the 4649t is nice for measuring the main pack voltage.

Even the smallest platinum ESC is much too large and heavy for a 180 sized helicopter.

Having done extensive testing with my iX12, uSpirit and SPM4649T here are my conclusions.

-all of the above have the newest firmware as of July 5th, 2020.

I can 100% enter the Text Gen programming every time without fail, however you *must* perform a flight data reset anytime you have powered the iX12 up or woken it up from sleep mode before trying to enter Spirit programming.

The actual programming works fine as well, the text does scroll and cutoff characters with some fields but it is consistent each time so it really isn't a problem.

However there is a potentially huge bug with closing the programming session - this could easily lead to crashes and needs to be addressed.

To close the programming session you move the rudder and aileron sticks towards in the inside - the second you do this the Spirit reports that programming is "CLOSED" at the top of the screen. However it will not actually be closed unless you keep holding the sticks for more then 2 seconds. So if you only hold the sticks long enough for it to say "CLOSED" at the top you can still make changes! And again it will report that it is closed but it is not.
When you do close the programming session you need to hold the sticks for more then 2 seconds and then perform a test with the sticks to ensure you can no longer scroll through the settings. The Spirit should not report it is closed until it actually is.

I have done this 50+ times while trying to tune my uSpirit, it is very repeatable.

Thread was moderated for unrelated and unhelpful posts. The aim is to resolve original problem.

Thanks for the cleanup. Are you able to change the programming so "closed" isn't displayed until the 2 seconds have passed and programming really is closed?
